He said for any community to be developed, it was dependent on the level of education of the people and as such, the chiefs should ensure that their people were well educated.

The Asantehene also asked them to give equal attention to the health of the people by supporting the provision of health facilities in their respective communities.

New palace

The Otumfuo was speaking at the inauguration of a new palace at Kaase , a suburb of Kumasi.

The palace was put up by the new chief of Kaase, Nana Mensah Bonsu, who ascended the throne about 20 months ago.

He advised the chiefs not to be interested in the selling of lands alone but to be concerned about the welfare of their people and the development of their various communities.

The Asantehene commended the chief for his foresight and leadership skills which had led to the construction of the magnificent structure within a short time, and urged him to continue with his visionary leadership.

Appreciation

The Kaasehene expressed appreciation to his traditional council for their good counsel which he said, had guided him since his ascension to the throne.

He also thanked the Asantehene for his support and wisdom since the death of his predecessor, Nana Owusu Yaw Ababio, and his subsequent enthronement.

The chief further pledged his continuous collaboration and allegiance to the Asantehene for the accelerated development of  Asanteman.

Projects

The chief explained that after ascending the throne, he realised that the old palace was in a bad state which did not befit the status of Kaase.

Consequently, he said together with his elders, it was agreed that a new one should be built to lift the image of not only the chieftaincy institution but also the status of Kaase.

Among the projects he undertook were the fencing of the Kaase School, building a six classroom block for the Kaase Primary school and the provision of a place of convenience.

He also drilled a borehole for the Kaase township and completed a four-seater toilet facility for the Kaase JHS.

Present at the inauguration were the Mayor of Kumasi, Mr Kojo Bonsu ,the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kofi Boakye, and the Member of Parliament for the area, Madam Patricia Appiagyei, Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa.
