He said mothers were the managers of the home and that placed a huge responsibility on them to inculcate the essential elements of truth, honesty, sincerity and above all, the fear of God in their children.

Maulvi Bin Salih was speaking at the 36th National Annual Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Women’s Association-Ghana in Takoradi.
The convention was on the theme: “Building a Peaceful Society: The Contribution of the Muslim Woman.”

Wrong attitude

The Ameer and Missionary in charge said despite the many resources of Ghana, the wrong attitude and behaviour of some individuals who placed materialism above everything, to the neglect of their fellow human beings, continued to undermine national peace and development.

Maulvi Bin Salih said women must strive to lay a good, sound, spiritual, moral and ethical foundation for their children to save the society from social crises.

The Western Regional Minister, Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, said women had a fundamental role in ensuring a peaceful society. “You are the first teacher and best role model for your children,” he said.

He also urged women to support their husbands in educating their children, saying, “Give me a good mother and I will give you a good nation."
