HUDAI supports needy families

A Turkish non-governmental organisation Human Development Association International (HUDAI) has distributed over 3,000 food packages and financial relief (Zakat) worth GH₡500,000 to needy families in Accra, Bawku, Cape Coast, Kasoa, Koforidua, Takoradi, Tamale, and Wa.

HUDAI also presented special iftar meals to 50 people in an orphanage in Accra during the Ramadan season.

The donation was in response to the donors’ humanitarian support scheme, to support vulnerable communities during this COVID- 19 era and its attendant stress and pressure on states and governments.

Officials of HUDAI, who made the presentation to representatives of the beneficiaries said this formed part of HUDAI’s mission to bridge economic and social inequality gaps by complementing the government’s efforts at eradicating same, especially at a time when most families were struggling to deal with the economic and social impact of COVID-19.

Other partners

The support will therefore empower the beneficiary families to better deal with the current hardship imposed especially by the pandemic.

The intervention was amply supported by equally stellar contributions from other partner Turkish NGOs such as, Turkiye Diyanet Foundation and Hope Runners Association.

Many Turkish companies operating in Ghana have also made donations in several ways, including through the Ghana COVID Trust Fund.

Turkish government

The Turkish government, in response to request for medical assistance, has sent aid in the form of medical supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE) worth millions of dollars to over 80 countries across the world, including several African countries to boost their capacity to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many African countries, including Ghana have benefited from humanitarian support the Turkish government provided through Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).

In these times of unimaginable global peril, the altruistic and humanitarian foreign policy of the Turkish government to countries far and wide has been truly remarkable.

Last decade

Over the last decade, HUDAI has provided humanitarian relief worth millions of Cedis to deprived and underprivileged communities across the country to boost their economic and social wellbeing.

The last few months have been truly extraordinary. The Coronavirus has not only taken hundreds of thousands of lives but also completely ravaged the global economic order.

The unprecedented situation has had a tremendous impact on the foreign relations policies of many countries.
