The Heritage Theatre Arts Festival 2026 is set to take place from October 5 to 11, 2026, at the University of Ghana's School of Performing Arts in Legon, bringing together theatre practitioners, performers, students, cultural enthusiasts and creative professionals from Ghana, South Africa, Sierra Leone, Togo, Spain and the United States of America.
Organised by Heritage of Africa in collaboration with the University of Ghana School of Performing Arts, the festival is themed "Celebrating African Stories. Connecting Cultures. Inspiring Generations."
The week-long programme will feature theatre performances, workshops, masterclasses, exhibitions, cultural exchanges, networking and industry conversations, creating opportunities for artists and audiences to connect across cultures.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of Heritage of Africa, Mr Gladstone Nditsi Kwawukume, the festival is designed to use theatre as a powerful tool for cultural preservation, education, youth development and international collaboration.
Festival Director Priscilla Okoh-Martey is leading the festival's programme coordination, working with the organising team and partners to deliver a diverse international theatre experience.
Organisers say the Heritage Theatre Arts Festival 2026 is more than a theatre festival, describing it as a platform for African storytelling, cultural exchange and creative collaboration that will provide Ghanaian audiences with an opportunity to experience stories and performances from across Africa and beyond.
