Heavy rains render parts of Greater Accra in floods

Many parts of Accra got flooded Monday night following hours of heavy rains.

The rains, which started at about 8 p.m Monday lasted several hours. It, however, receded at about 3 a.m Tuesday.

Information gathered by Graphic Online indicates that the flood waters entered many homes and rooms. Similarly, the flood waters carried debris to people’s homes and on the street.

Some of the areas that were heavily affected by the floods included East Legon Hills, main Nanakrom bridge, Haatso, Kaneshie, Kwabenya, Madina, Ablekuma, Dome, Adenta, Ofankor, Weija, Okponglo, Shiashie, West Legon, Odawna and Ofankor old barrier.

Some social media users who got stranded as a result of the rains took to their social media platforms to share their experiences while showing photos of the floods in their areas.

Both private and commercial drivers who were caught up in the floods had to park somewhere and run to safety.
