Headteacher in leaked sex video did no wrong – GNAT

The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) says the headmaster in the leaked sex video with a supposed 19-year-old student has done nothing wrong.

According to the Central Regional Secretary of GNAT, Buadu Abedu William, preliminary investigations indicate that parents of the 19-year-old girl are aware of the amorous relationship between the two.

“Yes, the girl is 19 years and the parents are aware that the man is taking care of the girl, paying her fees at Odobeng Senior High School,” he said in an interview on Accra-based radio station, Starr FM.

Mr Robert Sepey who is the Headmaster of the Breman Edumanu District Authority Basic School is seen in a 4-minute video having sex with the 19-year-old SHS student seen kneeling on a kitchen stool.

According to Mr Abedu William, the video which was recorded on the girl’s phone may have been leaked by the local chief’s son.

“It was on the chip of the girl’s phone, our investigations indicate that there’s a gentleman also in the village with a gang who is purported to be the chief’s son and they might have sent the video out.”

Asked whether Mr Sepey would be sanctioned for his conduct, Mr Abedu William had this to say: “For us, we are basically concerned with a teacher and a school girl…that one [sanction] is up to the employer to handle that issue. When we talk about law, morality doesn’t exist in law. What we were looking for was whether the girl was a minor.

“The sanction is spelt out in the code of conduct and it is the employer, that is the Ghana Education Service…and if there’s any charge…they are the employers. When they establish a prima facie then they can put the gentleman before a disciplinary committee.”

Meanwhile, Mr Sepey is said to have absconded from the Central regional town and in his absence, the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Education Directorate has ordered the Circuit Supervisor of Education to act as the head of the school to provide leadership in order for academic work to progress.
