Heads of Western Regional Command of GIS hold conference

The Western Regional Command of the Ghana Immigration Service has held its maiden conference for Unit, District/Municipal and Sector heads.

The conference, hosted by the newly appointed Regional Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Immigration (DCI) Dr Prosper P.D. Asima, was to provide him with the opportunity to meet the various command heads in the region and to also communicate his vision and strategies for the region.

Vision of the GIS

Dr Asima reminded the command heads of the vision of the service, which is "Delivering excellence in migration management for national development," and said that should be the guiding principle in all their endeavours.

He asked the officers to exhibit diligence in the performance of their duties and ensure that their activities were within the confines of the functions of the Service.

The Regional Commander also admonished them to maintain a high sense of discipline and good customer relations to improve the image of the service.

He further urged them to always be mindful that inter-agency cooperation was necessary to meet the security challenges of the time.

Border management

Dr Asima pledged his total commitment to enhance the operational capabilities of the command to enable it to achieve efficient and effective border management and residence and work permit systems that would meet the social and economic needs of the country.

He informed the command heads of plans to undertake a regional operational tour of all areas manned by the GIS within the region commencing from August 2, 2017.
