The 30-year-old David Mensah was arrested for carrying a weapon and seen lurking around the President when he visited the Adentan Constituency a few days ago on a campaign stop.

According to the Deputy Accra Regional Police Commander, ACP Paul Aryeetey, handcuffs and security communication gadgets were found on the suspect after his arrest.

"The Police has again arrested one David Mensah for posing as a national security operative to the Presidency. On the 11th of November 2016, the Adentan Police together with other security personnel arrested a 30-year-old impostor for possessing a foreign pistol and a pair of handcuffs at Frafraha," ACP Aryeetey said on Wednesday at a press briefing.

"The suspect was arrested while preparations were ongoing to prepare the grounds for the President's commissioning of a community Senior High School at Adentan Frafraha. The suspect on the said day arrived at the event early enough and carried himself about as a security detail to the Flagstaff House.

"After a careful observation by security persons he was questioned further and luck eluded him as he displayed gross ignorance in the work he claimed to do therefore warranting his arrest. During interrogation, he admitted he was not a security detail at the Presidency but claimed to be an ex military officer, which claim is yet to be established".
