Graphic to partner Chartered Institute of Marketing

The Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL), Mr Kenneth Ashigbey, has said that the company will be partnering the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) very soon to promote the various brands of the company.

Since GCGL is involved in marketing practices and activities, Mr Ashigbey stated that partnering the CIM would open a lot of doors and opportunities to the company globally.

“We are ready to open our doors to the CIM for our mutual benefit,” he said when some executive members of the CIM paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Accra.

The visit was meant to discuss a wide range of issues which will offer Graphic a lot of opportunities both locally and internationally.

The CIM team was led by the Global Chief Executive Officer, Ms Anne Godfrey, and the President and Chairman of the CIM, Mr George E. Gyamfi-Osew.

They were accompanied by Mr Solomon Adu Atefoe, a former Chairman of the CIM; Mr Abraham Tettey Nortey, Secretary of the CIM; Mr Joe Adjetey, Vice Chairman of the CIM; Ms Yaa Asantewaa Baah, Organiser of the CIM; Ms Lydianne Antwi, Public Relations Officer of the CIM and Ms Shirley Odartey Addo, Student Liaison Organiser of the CIM.

Mr Ashigbey added that the two organisations could work together to promote the training of a lot of Ghanaians, including staff of Graphic, as Chartered Marketers, adding that there were only a few of such in the country.

Mr Ashigbey indicated that the CIM had in stock a lot of research materials which would help the company to have a fair and wide knowledge of the Ghanaian market in order to better serve customers.

The partnership, he said, would also include the CIM having a column in the Junior Graphic dedicated to educating and whipping up the sense of marketing in children to help them become future good marketers and entrepreneurs.

Mr Ashigbey was co-opted into the CIM as an associate member.

Chartered marketing profession

Explaining the purpose of her visit to Ghana, Ms Godfrey said she was in the country to encourage marketers to pursue the chartered marketing profession, describing that as very important to marketers.

Globally, there are 35,000 marketers, while chartered marketers are  5,700. In Ghana, there are only about 100 chartered marketers.

The Global CEO, therefore, said her presence in the country was also to ensure that adequate measures would be put in place to enable more Ghanaians to become chartered marketers.

Restructuring

For his part, Mr Gyamfi-Osew said the CIM in Ghana was currently restructuring to conform to the global organisation.

By January 2015, he said, there would be a hard launch for the CIM in Ghana to meet international standards.

On the partnership with GCGL, Mr Gyamfi-Osew stated that it would offer both institutions the opportunity to change the face of marketing practice in Ghana.

He added that the partnership would result in the CIM developing and building the competence of Graphic staff.
