Graphic rewards vendors

Mr Otu Asante was adjudged the best seller of the Graphic Showbiz and he took home bicycle while Mr Isaac Yamba, best vendor for Graphic Business also received a bicycle.  There were also awards for the best vendors for Junior Graphic and Graphic Sports.

The long awaited ceremony which was last held about five years ago became a dream come true for both the new and old vendors who made merry throughout the evening.

The award  ceremony was aimed at motivating the vendors to sell more. It was also used to present Bluetooth  handsets and citations to long serving and loyal vendors.

Presenting the awards, the Managing Director of GCGL, Mr Kenneth Ashigbey, explained that, it was necessary for the company to annually assess the performance of its vendors in order to reward those who had excelled to motivate other sellers to buck up.

“We want you to know that the company really appreciates your efforts and would empower you to bring out the best in you to contribute successfully to the growth of the company” he said.

He added that, the vendors and the agents were the major stakeholders who sold the brands of the company saying  that “without them the public will not get the newspaper to read”.

 “The work they do is very stressful and they cannot keep on doing it for ever and that is why we want them to register with the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) so that they can cotribute to a pension scheme in future, he said”.

Mr Ashigbey indicated that the financial well-being and health of the vendors were priorities of the company and that was the reason why the company registered the vendors under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

 He said the company would  continue to open up to all shades of opinion and strive to get the newspapers to all parts of the country on time, even by air if need be.

A representative of the vendors, Mr Victor Bankas called on management to come to the aid of the vendors at  Lapaz whose newspaper stands, were destroyed by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).

 “We cannot hang the papers at vantage points any more to attract the attention of the public as the AMA is always chasing us from our customers”, he stressed.

“Graphic is an international paper with high quality especially the pictures which are really making the job go smoothly unlike the other newspapers’, he said.

The Overall Best Seller, Mr Entse expressed his profound gratitude to the management of the company for showing appreciation for the hard work of the vendors.

 “I therefore, encourage the younger vendors and those who did not received anything to put up their best and sell as much as they can as their efforts will be appreciated and rewarded one day, he said.”

“Let us not joke with the job and pay our bills promptly as you may not know when your reward will come”, he said.

Mr Bankas commended the company for registering the vendors   with the NHIS and appealed to the company to deliver their newspapers on time and avoid shortages which affected their livelihood.
