The programme will bring under one roof Christians of all denominations in and around Accra and others from parts of the country and beyond through live coverage on Multi TV’s Jesus Channel from 8 p.m. on Friday, August 30, to 8 a m. on Saturday, August 31.

Dubbed, “12-Hour Prayerthon 2013”, the prayer and worship session will be on the theme: “Peace and Prosperity in our Land”.

A statement issued by the organisers said the Scripture basis for the theme was Psalm 33:12, which states, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom He hath chosen for His own inheritance”.

“Leading in prayer on the night will be some selected men of God in the country who will be assigned various topics, including the peace of Ghana after the delivery of the Supreme Court judgement, national unity, Supreme Court judges, petitioners and respondents and acceptance of results by political parties,” it said.

It said the programme, which precedes the third annual 24-hour prayer session dubbed “Prayerthon 2013 — Heal Our Land” in November, was aimed at mobilising all Ghanaians on one big platform to intercede for the nation for the sake of peace and stability before and after the Supreme Court judgement on the election petition on August 29, 2013.

“As a prelude to the 12-hour Prayerthon, there will be the call for midnight prayer to all Ghanaians on Wednesday, August 28 and Thursday, August 29, 2013 from the comfort of their homes,” it said.

“Additionally, as a collective, Ghanaians will pray using the power of teleconference, social media and SMS technology led by pastors on Multi TV from 11 p.m. to midnight on each of those nights.

“All churches and the various religious and social groups in the country are invited to join other believers to cry onto God for the peace, stability and prosperity of Ghana.

“Any radio or television station interested in partnering the GCGL and Multi TV can also contact them to be part of this national assignment to divinely secure peace for Ghana,” the statement said.
