The top management of Melcom Group of Companies has called on the management of Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) in Accra to strengthen the business relations between the two companies.

Melcom Limited is Ghana's largest chain of retail department stores, with over 40 outlets in the country, offering a wide range of goods.

The Melcom team — led by Group Chairman Mr Bhagwan Khubchandani — were received by the Managing Director of the GCGL, Mr Ato Afful, who was supported by the Editor of the Daily Graphic, Mr Kobby Asmah; Director of Marketing, Mr Franklin Sowah; Editor of Graphic Business, Mr Theophilus Yartey, and the Head of Corporate Communications, Mr Emmanuel Agyei Arthur.

Mr Khubchandani, who was accompanied by the Director of Brand Management, Sonya Sadhwani, described himself as an avid reader of the Daily Graphic and commended the GCGL for its contributions to the development of businesses in the country and by extension Ghana, pledging that Melcom would continue to work with the company.

He lauded the Ghanaian hospitality and reception, and said he always felt at home with such experiences which could only be found in Ghana.

Mr Khubchandani said he had been in the country since 1951, and that Melcom’s successes were linked to those of the country and would, therefore, always seek the wellbeing of the country.

Media industry

The Managing Director of the GCGL said the management of the company had put in measures to ensure the company remained viable and relevant in the media industry.

He explained that the company had taken steps to take advantage of the opportunities that existed in the digital space by introducing the Graphic NewsPlus, an online platform where customers all over the world could access the content of the company’s brands.

Mr Afful said the company had ventured into the digital space as part of strategies to secure the company’s relevance in the present and future times.

He said the company’s future looked positive, saying “the business is looking positive and the team well resourced”.

He also commended the Melcom Group of Companies for the services it had been providing for the Ghanaian people.

Credibility

The Editor of the Daily Graphic said GCGL and Melcom Group of Companies were partners in development, and that they were both contributing in different ways to help the country grow.

Mr Asmah said GCGL as a company had sustained its leadership and dominance in the Ghanaian media space because of its credibility, and urged Melcom to see GCGL as a reliable business partner.
