Graphic celebrates 2 retiring Editors

The Editorial Unit of the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) came alive last Thursday when the staff saw off two editors of the Daily Graphic who began their journey to retirement after years of meritorious service to the company.

Mr Kingsley Kodwo Inkoom, the Deputy Editor of the Daily Graphic, and Ms Salome Donkor, the Education, Health and Gender Editor, served 12 and 34 years, respectively, in the company.

Mr Inkoom joined the Daily Graphic in 2007, after working with The Ghanaian Times. He also spent a considerable part of his working life in public relations with some foreign missions in the country.

Ms Donkor, on the other hand, joined the company in 1985 and rose through the ranks to become the Education, Health and Gender Desk Editor, a position she held until she gracefully bowed out of active service.

Atmosphere

It was a heart-warming moment when the Managing Director of the company, Mr Ato Afful; the Director News, Mrs Mavis Kitcher; the Editor of the Daily Graphic, Mr Kobby Asmah, and other editors, together with designers, reporters and proofreaders paid glowing tributes to the two for the effective roles they played in their respective duties towards the growth of the company.

Hugs, handshakes, warm embraces and broad smiles characterised the event, which saw the various groups at the unit take turns to eulogise the pair, take memorable photos and pray for productive retirement lives for them.

In appreciation of their dedicated service and the impact the two had made on the unit, the editorial team presented some items to them.

Commendation

Mr Afful was full of praise for the two editors and wished them the best in their retirement.

He, however, asked them to always keep in touch with the company to bring their experience to bear on the younger generation.

He urged staff members to take a cue from the worthy lives of the two editors and rededicate themselves to their work to help project the company in a positive light.

For her part, Mrs Kitcher saluted the retirees for being worthy ambassadors of the company.

She also eulogised them for their steadfastness and unrelenting roles as editors, even when the odds were stacked against them.

Mr Asmah described them as vital players whose achievements would remain indelible in the company's history.

He entreated them not to sit on the fence and leave the company to its fate but call members of the unit to order whenever it mattered.

Appreciation

Both Mr Inkoom and Ms Donkor took turns to express their gratitude to the management and staff of the GCGL for the honour done them and pledged to offer their services anytime they were called upon to do so.
