The facility was provided with a special fund from the central government.

It has staff quarters attached to it to accommodate some of the staff, especially those who have to commute from far places to work.

Inauguration

At an inauguration ceremony, the Gomoa West District Chief Executive, Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, said the government had prioritised health care which had culminated in the construction of health facilities, particularly in remote areas.

He said the new clinic would be a referral centre for complicated medical cases from Ngyiresi, Adaa, Ajumako Ansa and Sampa.

According to him, the government, in its quest to increase access to quality health care in the district, was constructing similar facilities at Obiri, Eshiem, Akropong and Gomoa Denkyira.

He stated that the government alone could not provide the facilities at the clinic and therefore called on indigenes of the area to come on board to support the facility to be in the position to respond to the health needs of the people.

Advice

He called on the health workers to be professional in the discharge of their duties.

“Your primary concern is to be accommodating towards patients which would go a long way to make the facility beneficial to the people of the area,” he added.

Omanhene

The President of the Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Council, Obirifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea II, commended the government for the massive infrastructural projects which had been executed within the traditional area.

He said the decision by the government to make access to health care closer to the people, especially those in the hinterlands was very laudable as it would reduce maternal and child mortality in the districts and the nation at large.

“It is very essential that health facilities are being brought closer to the ordinary people to enable them to have easy access to health services,” he pointed out.

Director of Health

The Gomoa West District Director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Luiz Ammoussou Gohounguo assured the people that the health workers would be professional to increase patronage to the facility.

He urged the community members to fully own the facility and ensure its regular maintenance.
