Prez cuts sod for Pullman Accra Airport City Project
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo yesterday cut the sod for the construction of the Pullman Accra Airport City Project.
The project will comprise 215 hotel rooms and suites and 149 serviced apartments under the ‘Pullman Living’ brand, with an executive lounge.
It will also have two restaurants, a range of international cuisines, two swimming pools with pool bars, a fitness centre, a wellness spa and lush landscaped areas.

Set to open in 2021, it will be the first dual hospitality offering in Ghana and also become Ghana’s largest and most distinguished hospitality facility.
Pullman Accra Airport City is a joint development between equity partners: Inter-Afrique Holdings Ltd and the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF)
Job creation
Addressing the gathering before cutting the sod, the President said the project was in line with the government’s vision of using an appropriate mix of public policy, and public-private investments, to help market the country as an exciting destination for leisure, conference, sports, health, educational and cultural tourism.”
He noted that apart from the creation of over 1,000 jobs at the construction phase, the project would during its operating phase employ 546 persons.
President Akufo-Addo was excited that Pullman Accra would be the highest Green-Rated building in Ghana, making it the only second highest Green-Rated hotel in Africa.
He indicated that as the co-Chair of the Eminent Group of Advocates of the 2030 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, this is certainly a welcome development to him.
President Akufo-Addo said his administration was a natural cheerleader for the private sector and that over the course of the past 23 months, the administration was succeeding in putting in place measures and policy initiatives that were creating an enabling environment for the private sector to flourish.
He assured the private partners of the project, Inter-Afrique Holdings Ltd, that under his watch, Ghana would continue to be a great place to do business.
Anchor funds
The CEO of GIIF, Mr Solomon Asamoah, said the principal role of GIIF was to use its US$250 million anchor funds from the Government of Ghana to help Ghanaian sponsors complete world class projects in Ghana.
“We were, therefore, very happy to participate in this landmark project as the equity partner for the Ghanaian sponsor, Inter-Afrique Holdings Limited, as well as supporting the sponsor to mobilise the long-term financing necessary to complete the financing package," he added.
