GHANASS matron, headmaster invited for questioning over vanishing food supplies
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service in the Eastern Region has invited the headmaster of Ghana Senior High School (GHANASS), Reverend Abraham Donkor, for questioning over an alleged theft of the school’s food supplies by its matron.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr Ebenezer Tetteh, told the Daily Graphic that the school was yet to lodge a formal complaint with the police, but the CID had also invited the school's matron and security to help in its investigations.
"It appears the school authorities want to hush up the matter, but we have also heard it on radio, and the media curiosity over the issue is high, and so we have invited the headmaster, the matron and the security man of the school for our own investigations," he said.

Allegations
Unconfirmed reports indicated that food supplies meant for feeding students of GHANASS were being diverted by the school’s matron.
The Daily Graphic was unable to confirm the veracity or otherwise of the allegation since it did not meet Rev. Donkor, and an attempt to reach him on phone also proved futile.
A member of staff who pleaded anonymity, however, confirmed the incident and stated that a committee had been set up by Rev. Donkor to investigate the matter.
According to sources, the matron carted the food supplies out of the school, which she later sold using a Ghana Education Service (GES) vehicle, with registration number GN 5717-15.
Additional information gathered from the school indicated that luck, however, eluded the matron this time when the security man on duty, stopped the vehicle at the school gate.
Upon inspection, the security man is said to have discovered several boxes of sardines and tinned tomatoes which were apparently being carted from the school.
The source added that while he rushed to inform the school’s storekeeper to come and witness what he had found, the driver and the matron drove off.
The security man subsequently lodged a complaint with the headmaster.
