Ghana Nuts Ltd supports Techiman Assembly

Ghana Nuts Company Limited, an agro-processing outfit has presented some sanitary items to the Techiman Municipal Assembly in the Bono East Region to aid its fight against the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

The items include Veronica buckets, antiseptic washing soaps, hand sanitizers, buckets, tissue papers as well as dustbins.

Presenting the items, the General Manager of the Techiman-based company, Mr Kwadwo Obeng Aboagye said the gesture was to augment government effort in providing similar items to the district to protect the citizenry from contracting the disease and also assist to curb the spread of the disease in the country.

He said that as a human institution, Ghana Nuts was equally concerned about the welfare of the people in the community and decided " to present these items to show our support to the government in its quest to deal with the threat of coronavirus and to enable the Techiman Municipal Assembly deal with the many requests of such items by the people in this area.”

Appreciation

The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr John Kofi Donyina, who received the items, was grateful to the company for the gesture and said the donation was timely and would enable the assembly to resource the communities that do not have such items.

He appealed to companies that located within the municipality to emulate the gesture of Ghana Nuts Company Limited and come to the aid of the assembly to enable it to reach out to lot more communities.

"We are honoured to have this donation from Ghana Nuts Limited and I must say this is a timely gesture because it would enable us provide same to communities that do not have hand washing items", he said.

Preventive measures

The Municipal Director of Health, Mrs Florence Iddrisa said the health directorate has been going round the communities to educate them on the preventive measures and also screening those who are entering the municipal for the virus.

Aside the screening, she said the directorate has also been compiling their data and tracing them to their houses for follow ups all in a bid to ensure that if any case is picked, “the person is quickly isolated and put on treatment to ensure that we don’t spread the virus.”

She was grateful to the Ghana Nuts for the donation which she said would enhance the preventive service being provided by the directorate.
