The Trinity Theological Seminary (TTS), Legon, has appointed Rev. Dr Ernestina Afriyie as its first female President. She is currently the Minister-in-Charge of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) Charis Congregation at Spintex in Accra, where she provides pastoral leadership while contributing to theological education and ministerial training.
Her appointment, which takes effect from December 1, is both a recognition of her distinguished service and a testament to the growing impact of women in Christian leadership and theological education.
An accomplished academic, respected theologian and lecturer at Trinity Theological Seminary, the first female President of the TTS brings to the role years of experience in theological scholarship, ministerial formation and church leadership.
Rev. Dr Afriyie’s appointment comes at a particularly significant moment in the life of the church, as 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of women’s ordination. Her elevation to lead one of the country’s foremost theological institutions is, therefore, a fitting milestone in this historic year.
Widely recognised for her academic excellence and commitment to theological formation, Rev. Dr Afriyie is expected to provide strategic leadership for the seminary as it continues its mandate of training ministers and Christian leaders for service in church and society.
A distinguished theologian, pastor, and scholar, Rev. Dr Afriyie has made significant contributions to theological education and pastoral ministry.
With a diverse educational background and a deep commitment to serving the church, she has earned recognition for her intellectual depth and pastoral sensitivity.
