Roger Wills leads GCTU GRASAG

A graduate student, Roger Wills, has been elected President of the local chapter of the Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG) of the Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU).


An MSc. Business Decision Management student, his colelagues see his resounding victory as echoing the aspirations of the graduate community of the university. Wills secured 68 per cent of the votes, while his opponent, Kojo Sarfo Oppong, received 32 per cent of the votes in last Sunday’s polls.

His victory is seen as heralding a new era of leadership characterised by selflessness and a commitment to the betterment of the university’s graduate community. With a pledge to prioritise "service above self", Mr Wills emerges as a beacon of hope, promising to place the interests of his fellow students at the forefront of his agenda.

During the fervour of the election campaign, he distinguished himself with a vision that resonated deeply with the electorate. With his mantra of "service above self", Wills was largely regarded as an embodiment of the qualities of a selfless leader dedicated to serving the needs of others.

His focus on fostering growth and development within the graduate community seemed to have struck a chord with voters, who entrusted him with their mandate to lead the local GRASAG chapter into the future.

Pivotal role

As the newly elected GRASAG President, Wills assumes a pivotal role in shaping the trajectory of graduate student life at the GCTU. Some students said his stated commitment to service and dedication to the welfare of his peers had positioned him as a leader poised to enact positive change and champion the interest of the graduate community.

In his victory speech, Mr Wills expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he received from his fellow students and reiterated his unwavering commitment to their well-being. 
The MSc. Business Decision Management student emphasised the importance of collaboration and inclusivity, signalling his intent to govern with transparency, empathy and integrity.

He said he stood ready to lead by example to inspire change and to make a meaningful difference in the lives of his fellow graduate students, stressing that with his victory, the promise of a brighter future for the graduate community at GCTU was ever brighter.
