Ramseyer Presbyterian YAF launches 20th anniversary

The Young Adults’ Fellowship (YAF) of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Ramseyer Congregation in Sakaman, Accra, has launched its 20th anniversary celebrations with a commitment to renewed friendship and love between members of the fellowship for a positive impact on society.

The anniversary is on the theme, “Celebrating 20 years of friendship, fellowship and Impact."

At the launch of the anniversary last Sunday, the District Minister and Minister–in–Charge of the church, Rev. Dr Joseph Apea Asamoah, highlighted the importance of friendship and fellowship in the church, noting that God, in His wisdom, designed the life of humans as one that could not do without bonding with one another.

He further noted that friendship and fellowship fostered cooperation and teamwork towards achieving a common goal in God’s vineyard, adding that groups that embraced these values were better equipped to excel in whatever they set their minds to do.

He congratulated all members of YAF on their 20th milestone, describing the strength that existed between them as one that was worth celebrating.

Milestone

The Reverend Minister, therefore, urged members of the group to continue to live in harmony and strengthen the bond that bound them together to make a great impact on the larger body of Christ.

The President of the Ramseyer Congregation YAF, Kwaku Agyare, who recounted events that led to the formation of the fellowship, explained that YAF was formed on April 20, 2007, following a directive in 2006 by the PCG General Assembly for all congregations to set up YAF.

“Under the leadership of the then Minister-in-charge, Rev. Mrs Florence Ofori Atta, an Interim Management Committee was formed to oversee the formation of YAF for members aged 30 to 40 years.

The founding members comprised 28 members, made up of 18 women and 10 men. Membership grew to 57 after the fellowship was inaugurated on May 11, 2008.

“Currently, YAF has a total membership of 126 who meet weekly to address their mid-life needs and improve their spiritual growth,” he stated.

Looking into the year ahead, he said the fellowship intends to purchase an LED screen for the church, grow active membership, expand outreach programmes and reach more communities in need while deepening the spiritual growth of members.

Message

The Sakaman District YAF President, Rexford Atuobi Okyere, commended the fellowship on its remarkable achievements over the last 20 years and expressed the hope that the feat would spur them onto greater heights.

“On behalf of district YAF officers, I congratulate you on this journey.
