Located on the Ada East Islands, pupils use canoes to cross the Volta River to school.

The donation, which took place at a brief ceremony at the Pediatorkope D/A Basic School last Thursday, follows the SOS appeals by the two schools to the commission for urgent help.

The over 500 learning materials included plastic carrier bags, exercise books, pencils, pens, erasers and sharpeners.

Gaming Awareness Month

The Deputy Director, Human Resource and Administration, Beatrice Baiden, revealed that Rotary Club was almost finished with the construction of a new canoe to aid the pupils to cross the river to go to school.

“It is our Corporate Social Responsibility Month and we are geared towards helping improve the lot of students as schools reopen. We saw what the pupils were going through here and their lack of basic needs and we responded to their call for help,” she stated.

She added that her outfit would continue to support needy schools with the necessary materials and equipment to ensure students perform creditably well in those schools.

More support

The head teacher of Pediatorkope DA Basic School, Numo David Paa Nii Tetteh, thanked the Gaming Commission for the gesture, while appealing for more support from other corporate bodies.

He noted that he would ensure the students put the learning materials to good use and get the best results from it.
