Missing Takoradi girls: CID Boss must apologise - security analyst

A security analyst Festus Aboagye has criticised the utterances of the Director General of the Police CID saying her actions are bringing the Police force into disrepute.

He has therefore called on the CID Boss to apologise to Ghanaians.

It comes after the CID head COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah backtracked on her claim that she knows the whereabouts of the three missing Takoradi girls.

She said her recent comment over the three missing Takoradi girls has been misconstrued by Ghanaians.

She explained that her claim that the CID knew the whereabouts of the girls was only intended to give hope to the families.

‘I made that comment because I wanted to give hope to the mothers but I have been misconstrued. Maybe people didn’t understand me. For timelines, I cannot say. I just want to assure everyone that the search is still on. We are not sleeping at all’, she told Accra-based Atinka TV.

Reacting to the comment in an interview on Accra based Starr FM, on Monday Mr Aboagye said the CID boss should have apologised when she had the opportunity in her latest interview.

“What she should have said was to apologise and said I’m sorry I didn’t know where they are and I said so. She has thrown the profession into great disrepute. Tomorrow when she tells us anything we will not believe. Her apology now is very essential. She has created a bit more anxiety for the parents of the girls,”.

Meanwhile the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it still holds COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah by her first statement and is calling on her to publicly admit she lied or resigned.

The national women organiser of the party, Hannah Bissiw, “When you say that you‘ve find them and they are safe is that hope or it is an assurance” she asked.

“She said they have found that girls and that they are safe. You see she should do us the honourable thing come and out and say I lied, I deceived you, forgive me. Otherwise she should resign”
