LOSA 89 donates to orphanage, hospitalge

The 1989 Year Group of Labone Old Students Association (LOSA 89) has donated assorted items to the Assurance of Hope Orphanage at Teshie and La General Hospital at La to commemorate its 30th anniversary.

The items included bags of rice, boxes of cooking oil and noodles, soft drinks, biscuits, soaps and detergents, all valued at GH¢4,000.

The founder of Assurance of Hope Orphanage, Rev Enoch Nii Yartey, who received the items on behalf of the orphanage, thanked LOSA 89 for the gesture, saying the items would help relieve the plight of children.

He said he was overwhelmed by the love and compassion shown by members of LOSA 89 and appealed to other organisations to also lend support to the orphanage.

A spokesperson for LOSA 89, Bukari Mununi, called on the government to resource the Department of Social Welfare (DSW) to enable it execute its mandate.

He said the DSW needed to be equipped with the requisite human resources and logistic to enable it carry out its mandate more efficiently.
