Kumasi set to host first-ever Ghana evangelistic festival

Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, is set to host the largest and major city-wide and non-denominational evangelistic campaign dubbed “Love Ghana Festival”.

The two-day event, scheduled for today and tomorrow at the Race Course, will provide the opportunity for participants to experience one of the large-scale, multi-dimensional outreach efforts designed to touch every segment of society.

It is being organised through a collaboration among the Christian Council of Ghana, the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, the Catholic Secretariat, the Anglican Secretariat, the Seventh-day Adventist Church, among others.

As part of the festival, special care would be extended to prison inmates, children in orphanages and street children, reflecting the festival’s commitment to love, compassion, dignity and practical service.

Other outreach activities include free eye screening, live gospel music, sports tournaments and a powerful presentation of the message of hope in Jesus Christ.

The lead guest speakers are Evangelist Andrew Palau and his wife, Wendy Palau, from the United States of America (USA).

Other respected ministers from the USA, United Kingdom and other African countries will be attending, including some renowned Ghanaian gospel musicians.

Vision

Addressing a press conference ahead of the event last Monday, the Vice Chairman of the Advisory Board of the festival, Rev. Dr Seth Frimpong Coleman, said that at the end of the event, they envision reaching at least two million people, with many lives transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ.

He said, “Going forward, churches would be more united and growing in numbers, as well as increased spiritual maturity.

Families will be transformed and communities blessed with greater peace and hope”.

“We believe that this united effort will contribute to the spiritual, social and moral well-being and prosperity of people in Kumasi, Asanteman and Ghana, especially the message of hope through Jesus Christ”, he stated.

He urged the media to be partners of the event, which is intended to contribute to the transformation of the city of Kumasi, saying “we want a city where the youth will find hope, where families will find reconciliation and where the name of Jesus is lifted above”.

Coming together

Evangelist Palau said they had resolved to come together to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to the people to advance God’s ministry, stressing “this is what the church continues to do day in and day out for the benefit of the society”.

He underscored the need for religious leaders to be united and pray for those in leadership, for it pleases God, adding, “We must pray for those in power, as the followers of Jesus Christ must be people of prayer”.
