KMA assures traders at Acheamfour market

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has asked traders relocated from the Kejetia to the Acheamfour market to exercise restraint following the locking up of their shops by the Acheamfour Group of companies.

A statement issued and signed by the PRO of the KMA, Mr Godwin Okumah Nyame, on Wednesday said the Acheamfuor Group took the unilateral decision without recourse to the assembly.

It assured traders that the assembly was in talks with the Acheamfuor group to reopen the locked up shops to enable them continue to sell their wares as plans were afoot to commission the newly-built Kejetia market to relocate them finally.

The statement urged the traders not to take the law into their own hand but remain calm as the assembly resolves the issues.

The temporary relocation of the traders to the Acheamfuor market was an arrangement between the KMA and the owners to create space for the construction of the Kejetia market.
