Personnel of the Ghana Police Service at Navrongo in the Kassena-Nankana Municipality of the Upper East Region are set to work in a more conducive environment following the renovation of the Navrongo Divisional Police Headquarters by Kacstone Records, a Ghanaian music record label that manages the legend Michael Adangba.
The refurbishment, fully funded by the record label, has transformed portions of the headquarters affected by leaking roofs, damaged and rotten ceiling materials and other forms of deterioration.
The gesture forms part of Kacstone Records’ contribution to community development and its efforts to support security institutions in creating safer and more peaceful communities.
Security
The Managing Director of Kacstone Records, Wenawome Duriyem Aborah, speaking at a brief ceremony to hand over the facility last Monday, said the company undertook the project because it believed security was a collective responsibility.
He said the police, as the institution mandated to protect lives and property, needed the support of citizens and private organisations to effectively discharge their duties.
Mr Aborah said the condition under which police personnel worked could affect their morale and ultimately, their ability to protect the public.
“They are the first people who need to be in a good condition and a good state of mind to be able to police for us.
If their mind is in distress, they will not be in a good position to protect life and property,” he stated.
He, therefore, urged individuals, businesses and organisations to support security agencies in ways that would enhance their operations.
Mr Aborah also called for stronger collaboration between communities and the police, emphasising that residents should be encouraged to share information with security agencies without fear.
Appreciation
The Navrongo Divisional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Daniel Anane Amoah, expressed appreciation to Kacstone Records for the intervention, stating that the record label had exceeded the expectations of the police.
He said the police initially expected to receive financial assistance from the company but were surprised when the record label decided to undertake the renovation itself.
He said the renovation had addressed the leakages, repaired the roof, replaced the damaged ceiling materials and improved the overall appearance of the building.
ACP Amoah assured Kacstone Records that the police would maintain the renovated facility and use it effectively.
The Navrongo Divisional Police Headquarters oversees four district commands, including Navrongo, Paga, Sandema and Fumbisi, with several police stations operating under the respective districts.
