ICGC donates Electro-Convulsive Therapy (ECT) machines to Accra, Pantang and Ankaful hospitals

The International Central Gospel Church has donated Electro-Convulsive Therapy (ECT) machines to the Accra, Ankaful and Pantang Mental Health hospitals.

This is to aid in mental treatment at the hospitals.

The machine was purchased by ICGC, headed by Pastor Mensa Otabil as part of its 35th-anniversary celebrations with a focus on health care intervention.

The Electro-Convulsive Therapy (ECT) equipment, popularly referred to as a "miracle machine," has been identified as a piece of critical life-saving equipment needed in mental health institutions.

It was handed over to the hospitals by the church on Tuesday, June 18, 2019.

Over the past nine years, ICGC has been committed to supporting the children’s cancer unit every month with funds towards the purchase of medication for treatment of children and organising blood donation exercises yearly in support of the National Blood Service.

According to the church, the exercise has led to a significant reduction in the percentage of children forced to abandon treatment for financial reasons from 48 per cent in 2010 to less than 9 per cent in 2017.

This year, ICGC was able to raise a little over 3,500 pints of blood for the National Blood Service as part of the church's 35th-anniversary health care intervention.
