The Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH) will introduce a free internal shuttle service for patients as from Monday (November 2).
The Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the hospital, Dr Hintermann K.K. Mbroh disclosed this in an interview in Ho last Wednesday.
He said the move was to facilitate easy mobility of patients at the 322-bed hospital and enhance service delivery.
“We realised mobility across the hospital was a challenge to patients; and one out of every four patients is above 60,” he told the Graphic.
For instance, Dr Mbroh said, the distance from the family health unit and the main gate of the hospital was very far.
Apart from that, the HTH did not allow public transport to operate within the hospital for safety reasons, he explained.
Dr Mbroh said, for now, the free shuttle service would start with two tricycles donated by the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu.
“We may increase that with more tricycles and motorized trolleys which could move smoothly in the corridors,” the CEO added.
Dr Mbroh expressed gratitude to the regional minister, saying the gesture was immensely relieving to patients.
