EP Church commissions 7 new pastors

The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG) has commissioned into ministry seven of its newly trained pastors who have completed their theological studies at the Trinity Theological Seminary.

In the lead-up to their probationary ministerial stewardship services, the seven pastor trainees, including a female, took their vows pursuant to the commissioning rites during a special service at Kpong in the Eastern Region.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, Rt Rev. Dr Lt Col Bliss Divine Agbeko (retd), urged the newly commissioned pastors to present themselves worthy of their calling, and to build for themselves a character worthy of emulation as disciples of Christ.

“You need to ensure that the church represents the kingdom of God, where God’s will is done among the members of the church.

You also need to serve as worthy instruments and disciples of Christ to transform society by curbing the increasing incidence of moral decadence and insubordination,” he remarked.

Pronouncements

Rt Rev. Dr Lt Col Agbeko condemned pronouncements of fabricated falsehood and lies perpetuated by some senior pastors against their superiors, cautioning that such conduct did not augur well for the desired spiritual growth, peace and unity of the church.

He urged the newly commissioned pastors to be guided by their faith and to ensure that their utterances did not hurt or divide the church.

The President of Trinity Theological Seminary, Rev. Prof. Fred Mawusi Amevenku, called on all pastors to rededicate themselves with deep commitment to preaching the gospel to the unbelieving community based on the great commission of Jesus Christ.

“The Lord has entrusted to us the great commission, requiring us to go into the world and make disciples.

We, therefore, need to pray constantly for the Lord to strengthen us to accomplish the task of His commission,” he asserted.

Rev. Prof. Amevenku urged the newly appointed ministerial probationers to diligently affirm their faith in their calling and serve with zeal and commitment by trusting in the Lord.
