Public Affairs

Mr Alhassan Yussif Ayuba until his recent reassignment as caretaker officer of the EC in the Bole District, was promoted  as Deputy Public Affairs Director of the EC.

The Deputy Northern Regional Director of the EC, Mr Emmanuel Abbeam Danso, who confirmed the accident to the Daily Graphic in Tamale, said Mr Ayuba and his driver, accompanied by a police officer, came to Tamale for electoral materials for the December 17 district level elections.

He said the team took off around 5.40pm to Bole only for them to hear of the accident later in the evening.

He told the Daily Graphic that this was the third time a vehicle with  EC officials have had an accident on that particular stretch of the highway.

Mr Danso said the vehicle run into a truck carrying yams that had fallen on its side,  blocking the road.

Sketchy details

Although the details of the accident remain sketchy, reports suggest that the two died instantly on the spot.

Mrs Sylvia Annor of the Communication Department of the EC confirmed the story to the Daily Graphic.

She was, however, unable to provide any further information since the EC was yet to get a full report on the accident.
