Dansoman Marshallans organise reading clinic for schoolchildren

Council 71 and Court 63, Dansoman of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall, on Saturday, October 10, 2026, organised a school reading project for selected schoolchildren in the community.

The event, held at the Dansoman Cluster of Schools at Sahara in Accra, aimed at promoting a strong reading culture among schoolchildren.

It was also aimed at encouraging them to develop a lasting interest in books and learning through reading activities, storytelling, reading competitions, book discussions and other interactive sessions.

The participating schools were Dansoman Community Basic School, Dansoman 1 Basic School, Dansoman 4 Basic School and the St Augustine Anglican Basic School.

The Grand Knight of Council 71, Reginald Dzonu-Ahlijah, in a welcome address, said the initiative reflected the commitment of the Noble Order to promote education and nurture a strong reading culture among pupils.

"Reading opens doors of knowledge, strengthens communication skills and inspires creativity.

By encouraging our children to read, we are investing in their future and the future of our beloved nation, Ghana," he stressed.

The Guest Speaker, Mrs Evelyn Anyenini, a legal practitioner, commended the Noble Order for marking the Centenary celebration through service to children.

She noted that the reading initiative would help the children gain the knowledge required for their growth and development.

Mrs Anyenini advised the pupils to cultivate the habit of reading each day to broaden their horizons.

Read every day

"Read every day. Aim for 30 minutes. Choose a book that is of interest to you and read. Form reading clubs, sessions and exchange books to read," she urged the pupils.

The Headmistress of the Dansoman 4 Basic School, Madam Ophelia Gyamerah, thanked Council 71 and Court 63 for the gesture.

On behalf of the society, the Noble Lady of Court 63,  Veronica Zigah presented 120 books to help stock the library of the cluster of schools in Dansoman.
