Council 10 of the Noble Order of Knights of Marshall has climaxed its 80th anniversary with a thanksgiving Mass.
The ceremony was held at Christ the King Catholic Parish, Cantonments in Accra last Sunday.
Speaking at the event, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp, lauded the group for its resilience and continued growth despite the various challenges and setbacks it had faced over the years.
“Eigthy years of struggles and outrageous practices has strengthened your faith in this awesome God” he stressed.
Drawing an inspiration from the bible, he said the Council 10 group was a reflection of Zerubbabel, who persevered in rebuilding God’s temple despite many obstacles.
“It is not by might, not by power but by the Lord’s.
These words were said to Zerubbabel to encourage him to rebuild the temple of Jerusalem.
Amidst the political and social opposition discouraging and disparaging remarks, and scarcity of human resource. God was reminding him that human strength and political power alone was inadequate for success” he explained adding the Council had done said.
Pacesetter
Delivering his keynote address, Sir Kt. Bro. C.K. Akyem stated that the council had been a pacesetter in the catholic fraternity and rolled out programmes designed to promote spiritual and social welfare of members.
He also noted the institution had leveraged the expertise of its members in establishing an insurance scheme, as part of its welfare initiatives.
““Concerned about the welfare of its members, the council leveraged the expertise of 8 members to establish a good insurance scheme.
This initiative has been adopted and continues to operate successfully within the Accra East region” he added.
Unveiling commemorative bust
As part of the activities marking the 80th Anniversary of Council No. 10 of the Noble Order of Knights of Marshall, a bust of Sir James Marshall was unveiled on Saturday at the St. Anthony Multipurpose Centre, Okponglo, Accra.
The unveiling ceremony was performed by the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, Julien Kaboré, assisted by the Grand Knight of Council No. 10, Bro. Emmanuel Maclean Ofori; the Noble Lady of Court 5, Sis. Violetta Kumi; the Deputy Supreme Knight, W/Bro. Samuel Kingsford Arthur; and the Chairman of the Council 10 Anniversary Planning Committee, W/Bro. Augustine Appiah.
The occasion attracted a remarkable gathering of leaders of the Noble Order.
Present were the Supreme Knight, Sir Kt Bro Constantine Kudzedzi and the Grand Lady, Most Respected Lady Sister Irene Smith-Ansah among others.
The monument honours Sir James Marshall, whose efforts led to the reintroduction of the Catholic Church in the then Gold Coast, now Ghana. His contribution remains an enduring part of the history of the Catholic faith in the country and continues to inspire generations of Knights and Catholics alike.
