Colgate, Melcom roll out student scholarship initiative

Colgate Ghana, in partnership with Melcom Supermarkets, has launched an eight-week campaign aimed at supporting students with educational expenses.

The initiative, which runs from October to December 18, 2026, empowers Ghanaians to transform a simple household purchase into a life-changing educational investment.

It is total scholarship allocation of GH¢240,000, alongside GH¢120,000 in Melcom shopping vouchers where winners are expected to be selected weekly.

Under the campaign, customers who purchase two qualifying Colgate toothpaste products at any of Melcom’s 54 stores nationwide can nominate a student for consideration.

Each scholarship is valued at GH¢15,000 and will be paid directly to the beneficiary’s school to cover tuition, approved levies, examination registration fees or essential school supplies.

To guarantee direct educational impact, all GH¢15,000 scholarships are paid directly to the students' schools to cover tuition, approved levies, exam registrations, or essential supplies.

Speaking on the initiative, Colgate Ghana Country Lead, Edward Sonkor, said the campaign was intended to extend the company’s community engagement efforts to education and support students in their pursuit of learning.

“We have spent decades caring for smiles across Ghana, but a smile is more than healthy teeth.

“A smile is confidence. It is the power that helps a child walk into a classroom ready to learn.

This campaign builds a culture that celebrates learning and ensures no child is left behind,” he said.

The eligible products are the 140g Herbal and Maximum Cavity Protection variants and the 120g Charcoal Gentle Clean variant.

To submit a nomination, customers must purchase two qualifying products and either scan the campaign QR code available in-store.

They will then be guided on how to submit their Melcom receipt and nominate a student.
