China has given assurance that it will be a force for peace, stability and progress in the world.
The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Cong Song, who gave the assurance, said the Communist Party of China strived not only for the happiness of the Chinese people and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, but also for the progress of humanity and the common good of the world.
“China is committed to broadening the convergence of interests with all countries and firmly safeguarding world peace and tranquility,” he said.
Mr Song said this last Tuesday at a reception to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China.
The event, which was well attended by members of the diplomatic community, security agencies, government officials and Chinese nationals in Ghana, featured many performances showcasing Chinese culture by both Chinese and Ghanaians.
Mr Song said China was also committed to promoting coordination and constructive interactions among major countries, acting as a force for global strategic stability.
Touching on development, he said China had made new historic achievements in high-quality development and sharing development opportunities with the rest of the world.
He said China remained firmly committed to advancing high-level opening-up and promoting high-quality belt-and-road cooperation, guided by the principles of security and sincerity, real results, amity and good faith and upholding the right approach to justice and interest.
On China’s relations with Africa, the ambassador said developing solidarity and cooperation with African countries was always an important cornerstone of China's foreign policy, adding that China was willing to ensure that no country was left behind in the process of global modernisation.
Regarding China’s friendship with Ghana, Mr Song said the two countries enjoyed a time-honoured friendship that was jointly forged by the founding leaders, Chairman Mao Zedong, Premier Zhou Enlai and President Kwame Nkrumah.
“Over the past 66 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Ghana have always supported each other and worked in solidarity, safeguarding the shared interests of our two countries and the global South,” he said.

He said China and Ghana both cherished their sovereignty and independence, strived for progress and prosperity, and had supported each other in bilateral and multilateral arenas, jointly defending the common interests of the global South.

China, he added, highly appreciated Ghana's firm support for China's core interests, including the One-China Principle.
Regarding trade, he said China remained Ghana's largest trading partner and a major source of foreign investment, adding that in 2025, bilateral trade between the two countries reached a record US$14.1 billion, reflecting a 19.3 per cent year-on-year growth.
China contributor to global growth, development
The Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, said China’s achievements over the past 77 years in infrastructure, industry, science and technology, agriculture and poverty reduction had improved the lives of millions of people and made China an important contributor to global growth and development.
She said for Ghana and many other developing countries, there was much to learn from China's experience, particularly its long-term approach to development, investment in productivity, capacity and ability to translate national priorities into tangible results.
“China's experience demonstrates that development and prosperity do not happen by chance.
They are the result of deliberate and purposeful action by the state.
We appreciate China's willingness to share its developmental experience, expertise and innovation with countries of the global South,” she said.
