Chaos breaks in Bole

Chaos has broken out at Bole in the Savannah region after some youth defied the Regional Chief Imam’s cancellation of the Eid prayers.

The cancellation was due to heightened tension as a result of a chieftaincy dispute between the Mandari gate and the Alhaji Abudu gate

Past conflicts between the groups had turned bloody for which reason the Imam decided that the Eid be commemorated at home.

But that did not sit well with some community members who were tempted to disregard the directive resulting in the violence.

An eye witness Adams Abduli said “The chief Imam cancelled the prayers this morning. But section of the community said no, they must observe the prayers so they moved in there. There was chaos, there was some gun shots, others were throwing stones at each other..... Some few minutes ago the crowds were fighting very seriously”.

Abduli who is also a Youth activist in the area said the police were able to bring the situation under control after firing a number of warning shots.

He added that nobody got injured.
