Calm returns to Awaso, GIADEC engages Ghana Bauxite Company

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC), Mr Michael Ansah, has led a delegation to pay a working visit to the Ghana Bauxite Company Ltd.

(GBC) at Awaso in the newly created Western North Region

The delegation comprised a member of the Board of Directors of GIADEC, Mr Benito Owusu-Bio, who is also a Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, and members of the GIADEC management team.

The delegation was joined on the visit by the MCE for Bibiani-Anhwiaso Bekwai, Mr Alfred Amuah, and a representation from the Sefwi Bekwai Police Command, led by Supt. Isaac Baah.

The GBC has, in recent times, been plagued by industrial unrest involving a section of its workforce, resulting in considerable damage to buildings and other property.

The group was met on arrival by the management of the company, led by the General Manager, Mr  J. K. Fang; the Deputy General Manager, Mr  Lui Xin; the Mine Manager, Mr  Emmanuel Agyapong,  and the local representative of Bosai Minerals Group, Mr  Isaac Ofori Poku.

They conducted the delegation on a tour of the company’s premises to give them first-hand experience of the damage caused by the rampaging workers.
