The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, has led the newly elected Executive Presbytery officers of the church to pay a courtesy call on President John Dramani Mahama at his residence in Accra.
The visit was to introduce the church leaders to the President and thank him for being the Special Guest of Honour at the 32nd Biennial General Council Meeting of Assemblies of God, Ghana, which ended at Gomoa Fetteh on August 22, 2026.
Delegation
The delegation was made up of the Assistant General Superintendent-elect, Rev. Kwadwo Boateng Bempah; General Secretary-elect, Rev. Albert Anane, and the wife of the General Superintendent and National President of the Ministers' Wives Association, Lady Mrs Monica Wengam.
Others were the Special Aide to the General Superintendent, Rev. Ernest Agyei (retd), and Fuseini Donkor, Board Chairman of the Teen Challenge of Assemblies of God, Ghana, who is also the Deputy Director-General in charge of Operations at the National Service Authority.
Prayers, support for First Family
Rev. Wengam expressed profound appreciation to President Mahama for his loyal membership of the Assemblies of God, Ghana and the diverse support he and the First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, continue to provide for the church.
The General Superintendent pledged the church's continued prayers and support for the First Family and the government.
President Mahama congratulated the newly elected leaders and commended Rev. Wengam in particular, for “his visionary and bold leadership”, which he said resulted in his overwhelming endorsement for a second term.
The President further noted that Assemblies of God, Ghana, had experienced significant growth since Rev. Wengam assumed office as General Superintendent.
He expressed the hope that that trajectory would be maintained and even scaled up.
Rev. Wengam was re-elected with nearly 90 per cent of the votes cast, as against 10 per cent by his main contender, Rev. Dr Kwame Bansah.
