Allow children to explore hidden potential - Parents urged
The Vice-President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Mrs Linda Asante-Agyei, has urged parents and stakeholders to provide opportunities for their children to explore their skills and talents as they grow.
She made this call last Tuesday at the launch of the silver jubilee of Curious Minds.

"At GJA, we see Curious Minds (CM) as the younger branch of the association and as parents and stakeholders, we need to allow the children to have access to rich opportunities that will let them explore their talents while growing.
“GJA will continue to support the youth development in journalism as that is a way of creating awareness of media freedom and child right globally,” she added.
Mrs Asante-Agyei urged the members of the club to follow the footsteps of their alumnus.
“As members of Curious Minds, you have heard of people who were here before you and have made it, let these people be your mentors and learn from them,” she said.
Background
Curious Minds, a youth-led development and advocacy organisation based in the country and working for children and the youth, was formed in 1996.
The group, over the years, has trained children in using the media to unearth their hidden potential and set the pace for other children to follow by discussing acts and other bye-laws patterning to the well-being of children in the country and the world as a whole.

The Executive Coordinator of Curious Minds, Mr Kingsley Obeng –Kyereh, urged parents to allow their children explore positive opportunities available to them that would grow their minds and help them contribute positively to the development of the country.
He recounted the positive impact and contributions Curious Minds had chalked up in the lives of many renowned persons.

The Director-General of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Prof. Amin Alhassan, urged media houses to support children’s programme in diverse means as that was also a way of bringing out the hidden potentials of the children.
“GBC is proud to associate with Curious Minds and for the past 25 years our gates have seen various giant feet walk in and out of our studios contributing their quota to global development. The media should learn to support our future in diverse ways.
“The GBC will soon have a transforming phase and we pledge to broadcast Curious Minds and no longer air it only on our radio waves,” he pledged.
