Accra Mall is using its ‘Spooky Fun Halloween’ experience to attract families seeking entertainment beyond shopping, offering children costume activities, trick-or-treating and cinema-related experiences this October.
The initiative provides families with an opportunity to combine leisure, dining and shopping during a single visit, as malls increasingly cater to customers seeking entertainment alongside retail services.
Although Halloween is not part of Ghana’s traditional cultural calendar, the occasion has inspired themed entertainment activities in different markets. At Accra Mall, the focus is on giving children opportunities for imaginative play while providing parents with a convenient family outing.
Beyond shopping
The Marketing Manager of Accra Mall, Mr Anthony Asamoah, said the initiative formed part of efforts to create experiences that encouraged people to spend time together at the facility.
“Accra Mall is more than a shopping destination. We want to create experiences that bring people together, give families opportunities to have fun and allow them to make memories,” he said.
He said the Halloween activities offered families something different to enjoy in a familiar and accessible setting.
The initiative comes as shopping malls seek to serve multiple customer needs, including retail, food, cinema and recreation. For families, this allows a single visit to accommodate several activities without requiring extensive travel or planning.
Family entertainment
Spooky Fun Halloween centres on costumes, trick-or-treating and cinema tie-ins, giving children an active role in the experience.
Costumes allow children to dress as their favourite characters, while trick-or-treating provides an activity around which families can plan their visit. The cinema offerings also give visitors another entertainment option.
The format allows families to combine the activities with meals, shopping or a film, potentially encouraging them to spend more time at the mall.
For parents, the attraction lies partly in the convenience of having several leisure options in one location. Children, meanwhile, get a break from their regular school and home routines through themed activities and play.
