Telecommunications Group, MTN Ghana has graduated 88 entrepreneurs from its 2026 Mini Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme.
The programme is designed to strengthen the capacity of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) to grow, create jobs and contribute to the economy.
The 13-week programme, delivered in partnership with the Nova Business School, formed part of MTN Business’s year-long SME Accelerate initiative, which seeks to address business capacity gaps through training, mentorship and practical support.
Participants received training in strategic financing, sustainability, bookkeeping and digitisation to improve business management, decision-making and competitiveness.
The programme built on a series of SME clinics organised by MTN Ghana, which identified areas where entrepreneurs needed additional support to move their businesses beyond survival.
Speakers urged the graduates to apply their knowledge, continue learning and use the skills acquired to build sustainable businesses.
Priate sector key to development
The Chief Executive Officer of the Nova Business School, Professor Matthew Chameleon, said the private sector had a central role to play in the country’s economic development, while government was expected to provide an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
He thanked MTN Ghana for supporting the programme and said the partnership had enabled the school to align the entrepreneurs’ capstone projects with MTN’s strategy.
Prof. Chameleon said graduation was the beginning of a continuing relationship between the school and the entrepreneurs, adding that Nova intended to support them as they implemented the lessons and concepts acquired during the programme.
He urged the graduates to become agents of economic transformation by applying their knowledge and networks to grow their businesses.
Commitment
The Chief Enterprise Officer of MTN Ghana, Angela Mensah Poku, said the graduation represented the entrepreneurs’ commitment to learning and their determination to build competitive businesses, create jobs and contribute to the economy.
She said SMEs faced challenges such as changing customer expectations, increasing competition, digital disruption and economic pressures, making capacity building essential to their survival and growth.
Ms Mensah Poku said MTN Business’s SME Accelerate programme went beyond providing products and connectivity by combining technology, knowledge, mentorship and networks to help businesses thrive.
She challenged the graduates to review their business processes, finances, marketing and use of technology, while identifying opportunities to digitise operations, enter new markets and improve sustainability.
She also encouraged them to share their knowledge with their teams, mentor other entrepreneurs and contribute to a stronger private sector.
