4 vehicles crash on Kumasi-Accra road

Four vehicles and a motorcycle were on Saturday involved in an accident on the Accra-Kumasi highway which caused injuries to some passengers between Konongo and the Bomfa Junction section.

The vehicles included a Metro bus, a truck and two mini buses which all loaded with passengers.

No serious injuries or deaths were recorded during the crash apart from a passenger who was injured in the leg and was taken to the hospital.

The accident resulted in a heavy vehicular traffic, on that section.

It took the intervention of two military personnel who arrived at the scene to direct traffic.

No police personnel were at the scene at the time Graphic Online arrived at the scene around 10:40am.

When Graphic Online visited the scene again around 4:30pm, the accident scene had been cleared and the traffic was flowing freely.

In another development, a Mercedez Sprinter bus which was loaded with passengers was also involved in an accident at the Nkawkaw junction on the Accra-Kumasi highway same Saturday.

The accident which happened around 5:30 pm saw the bus somersaulting.

The speeding driver reportedly lost control at the junction where the dual carriageway ends and run the vehicle into a ditch.

When Graphic Online arrived at the scene, paramedics had arrived and were providing first aid to passengers who had sustained minor injuries.

Some of the passengers said they attended a funeral in the Eastern Region.

The Sprinter bus had turned overturned and landed on the roof with the tyres facing upwards.
