36 honoured at Medical Excellence Awards

Thirty-six healthcare personnel from the public and private facilities have been honoured at this year’s Ghana National Medical Excellence Awards (GNMEA).

The awards, which is the eight edition, was organised on the theme, “Healthcare delivery in Ghana; the role of the health personnel in quality delivery.”


The awards forms part of efforts to help celebrate Ghanaian healthcare personnel for their enormous contribution toward quality healthcare delivery in the country.
and The National Thank You Day for Ghanaian Healthcare Delivery Personnel (NTYD-GHDP).


Stella Wogbemase Hlodze of the National Health Service of the Jasikan Diocese won the best nurse, Rebecca Awisi Tetteh from the St Martin de Porres Hospital-Agomanya (Koforidua) won the best midwifery award while Martin Asitanga from the St Mary’s hospital Drobo in Sunyani won the best pharmacist.

The best diagnostic science went to Bernice Ameyaw, who works with the Ghana Ports and Habours Authority (GPHA)hospital, Takiradi, and the best physician assistant went to Samuel Acquah of the Agona Nkwanta health Centre while Dr Abdulahi F. Kahman from the Bimbila Municipal hospital was adjudged the best Doctor.

The best administrator went to Helen Tetteh of the GPHA hospital in Takoradi while the best medical superintendent went to Dr George T. Tidakabi of the GPHA hospital in Takoradi.

The best Dentist went to Dr Ama Ofosu Appiah of the Trust hospital while the best auxiliary staff went to Duada Moshie of the St. John of God hospital in Duayaw Nkwanta.

Special awards were also presented to hardworking personnel across the country.


The Group President of GNMEA Mr Dauda Titus Amidu, commended the awardees for heir hard work in serving the public.

The medical awards, is said was not a platform for making money but it was instituted to reward deserving individuals.

He added that the awards was part of continual effort of celebrating healthcare delivery personnel each year for standing tall to save lives as the world grappled with the COVID-19 pandemic.
