A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, October 8, 2026, said Ghana understands the pain and sorrow Nigeria is experiencing at this difficult time, noting that the country grieved and still grieves the loss of six of its compatriots in a similar incident barely a year ago.

The statement said Ghana shares in Nigeria's grief and mourns the lives lost.

It extended the country's deepest sympathies to the bereaved families, friends and colleagues of the victims, the Nigerian Armed Forces and the entire people of Nigeria.
