George Bush Highway records multiple accidents
Asked whether the truck driver had not seen the vehicles ahead of him, ASP Abdulai quoted the driver as saying that the road was not well lit and there was no warning triangle.
The MTTU commander, however, refuted that explanation, saying it was not the accident vehicle that the truck ran into but vehicles that had been stopped for the police to clear the scene.
He added that the driver of another KIA truck which was carrying sachet water, on seeing the accident ahead of him, veered off the road to avoid the pile up but ran into a drinking spot along the road.
That resulted in heavy vehicular traffic build up all the way to the Lapaz end of the usually free-flowing Motorway for several hours, as the vehicles had to make do with only one lane of the three-lane road at the accident scene.
