Residents of Gbawe Bulemin and the Bank Quarters area have taken the initiative to construct a concrete slab over a major drain to enable vehicles to drive to the area.
For a long period, access for vehicles to the area has been with difficulty, as the metal cover on the drain had deteriorated, making the drain impassable.
New concrete slab
Under the leadership of Mr Benjamin Quartey, one of the residents, a new concrete slab, estimated at about GH¢3,000, has almost been completed.
At a meeting held by the residents last Saturday, they agreed to levy each household GH¢100 to raise funds to tackle the bad roads in the area.
That, they said, was to lessen the discomfort drivers and pedestrians had to contend with during the rainy season.
Appeal to assembly
Mr Quartey, who is the Interim Chairman of the residents’ association, expressed the hope that the Ga South District Assembly would appreciate the initiative taken by the residents and support their efforts at improving the condition of the roads in the area, adding, “Any little assistance will make a great difference in the lives of the people of the area.”
He said the residents would meet at 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014 to deliberate on the next action to take and urged all of them to try and attend that meeting.
