Nigeria has not cut its supply of gas to Ghana, the sector Ministry has said.
According to the Ministry, there was a short interruption of the gas supply to the Volta River Authority (VRA) Monday morning due to a technical problem that was detected by the West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo) on one of its pressure pipes.
Speaking on Citi FM, the Communication Consultant at the Ministry, Edward Bawa, explained that, “the challenge was rather from Ghana. WAPCo detected that they had a very high gas pressure alarms on their gas filter separator. And so they needed to resolve that.”
He said the situation was restored in about an hour, saying, “As at 10 o’clock this morning they had resolved the problem and there has been a resumption of gas supply.”
“The situation was just for about an hour and we’ve started getting gas again,” he added.
Mr Bawa therefore stressed that there was no curtailment of gas supply from the Nigerian end of the supply chain.
