Forestry officials train in wildlife offences prosecution

Speaking at the ceremony, which was also used to commemorate the International Day of Forest, Mrs Appiah-Oppong assured the FC of the ministry’s commitment to  deal with illegal activities in the forest and wildlife sector.

She said the illegal activities in the forest and wildlife sector were not only exposing the country to environmental destruction but also causing financial loss to the state.

In his address, the Chief Executive of the FC, Mr Samuel Afari Dartey, said the three northern regions were under threat of desertification due to illegal mining and forest activities.

He indicated that those activities had contributed to the dwindling of the vegetation.
