The communities are Kunkua, Yagba, Kubori, Loagri and Yizesi.

The Mamprugu Moaduri District is  popularly referred to as "Overseas".

Inaugurating the project at Yagba, a Deputy Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Mr John Jinapor, said the government had so far connected 1,400 communities in the Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions to the national grid under the rural electrification programme.

He said electricity was a cardinal tool for development, hence the government’s commitment to ensure that many more communities were connected to the grid.

"Some of you will henceforth sell iced water, some will engage in hairdressing, some vulcanising, others welding, but most important, you will gain access to information technology," he said.

Infrastructural development

The Deputy Northern Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu, Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini, said government’s infrastructure development of the Northern Region was very impressive.

He said  the upgrading and expansion of the Tamale Airport would not only bring about economic development but also ease the inconvenience pilgrims from the northern sector went through during the Hajj period.

The Managing Director of  the Volta River Authority/Northern Electricity Company, Mr John Nuworklo, urged the people to assist the company to safeguard the network and not engage in illegal connection and meter tampering.

The Paramount Chief  of the Wungu Traditional Area, Wunaba Alhaji Sulemana Saaka, appealed to the government to construct a bridge over the River Binbini to link Yagba to Wulugu and Walewale, so that the people would not travel through Navrongo and Bolgatanga to Tamale.
