Female robber leads car-snatching operation
A 21-year-old woman suspected to be an armed robber and her 23-year old accomplice who attempted to snatch a taxi at gun point around Abuakwa, near Kumasi have been arrested and are helping the police in their investigations.

Georgina Tam and Sirakus Boo were alleged to have struggled with the driver of the taxi in an attempt to take the car from him, but the timely intervention by the police saved the situation.
When Tam and Boo were searched by the police a black lady’s hand bag containing a locally manufactured pistol, four live cartridges, two sharp knives, a mobile phone and identity card bearing the name of Boo and other personal items were found on them.
The police are searching for two of their accomplices whose names were given as Peter and Darious.
The two, according to the police, managed to escape moments before the police conducted a search on the taxi.
Briefing The Mirror on the incident, the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammed Yusif Tanko, said the four engaged the services of the driver around midnight on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Pampaso in Kumasi and directed him to take them to Abuakwa.
He said on their way, Tam and Boo ordered the driver to stop the car at an obscure place between Tanoso and Abuakwa but suspecting them of questionable intentions, the driver refused to obey the order.
According to ASP Tanko, the driver made an attempt to drive to the next check point around Abuakwa and this generated a scuffle with Tam and Boo threatening to kill him.
He said the scuffle attracted the attention of policemen on duty at the check point who immediately rushed to the scene to find out what was amiss.
ASP Tanko said when the police heard the ordeal the driver went through, they conducted a search on Tam, Boo and the other accomplices, and found the items on them.
He said before the policemen could finish listening to the version of the robbers, they to their heels but the police managed to arrest Tam and Boo.
