Teye was charged for being on the premises for unlawful purposes and stealing. He pleaded guilty to both charges.

According to the prosecutor, Detective Inspector Tobias Amoadza, the complainant, Ms Okum-Narh, is a hairdresser at Agomanya, where Teye also lives.

The prosecutor said for sometime now thieves had been stealing moulded cement blocks which the complainant had packed on her building plot so she informed her neighbours to be on the lookout for the thieves.

The prosecutor said on September 14, 2013 at about 3 a.m., a witness in the case went and laid ambush close to where the cement blocks had been packed.

He said while the witness was there, he spotted Teye collecting the blocks to an unknown destination.

The witness, Inspector Amoadza said, kept observing the movement of Teye and on his third trip, he arrested Teye and sent him to the police station with the assistance of some neighbours who heard his (witness) shouts for assistance.

Ms Okum-Narh was informed and she went to the police station and identified the blocks as hers.

During investigations, Teye told the police that he stole only 30 pieces of the blocks.

He led the police to a house where he had packed the blocks.

The police later conveyed the said blocks to the police station and charged Teye with the offences.

The court ordered the police to hand over the retrieved blocks to the complainant.
